Manage/Store Mac Video clips from HD Camcorder AVCHD format on Mac OS X
Organize/Stream video collection on mac for native AVCHD MTS/M2TS video quality
Mac Camcorder Video Management Helper-Join/Cut for Social Occasion/Events
After shooting video with the digital cameras like Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5, Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8/TZ18, FP7/FP5, you may find it easy to organize and catalogue the clips in iPhoto. However, if you decide to upgrade your camera to camcorder for shooting family videos, you may find it difficult to manage camcorder Video clips in AVCHD format. AVCHD camcorders are more and more popular, and you can find Canon HF R200, Panasonic HDC-TM900, Sony HDR-CX700 as the 2011 new models. Neither iMovie or FCP could process the MTS/M2TS files from camcorder natively, as the files will be transcoded into AIC or ProRes.

If you would like to keep the native AVCHD video quality without recompression and organize video collection on Mac, Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac is the recommended Mac camcorder video management helper to join/cut AVCHD files for social occasion/events. It enables you to capture AVCHD files directly from camcorder, cut and remove the unwanted parts of the videos, and join the clips for each event into a single file.

Below is the fast way to manage/store camcorder clips in AVCHD format on Mac OS X like 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard with Intel processor, taking the videos from Canon HF R200 as an example.

Step 1. Capture/Add videos to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.
As I have backup the videos from camcorder to Mactonish hard drive, it is easy to get the AVCHD files listed on Resource tab by clicking the "Add file path" button for the folder with the video clips. If you have your camcorder connected to iMac/MacBook Pro, Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac will pop up a message asking you to capture video from the camcorder.

Step 2. Join short clips into a single file.
Select the clips you would like to merge into one file as an event/occasion, drag and drop to the timeline. A lossless movie will be created in the Movies section. To create multiple movies for different occasions or events, just click the "Create New Movie" button, then drag and drop short clips to the new movie ID.

Step 3. Remove useless parts on timeline(optional).
If some of the added clips are useless, just click on the clip on timeline and then click the delete button. For the unwanted part in particular clip, just position to the frame on timeline and click the delete button. To get the exact frame, you can use the Previous Frame button and the Next Frame button.

Step 4. Export AVCHD movie in native format for best quality.
Click the Export button, and click the OK button to start joining/merging/combing AVCHD files in native format without any loss in quality, and store the useful videos on Mac within minutes.

Hope you enjoy the steps above to organize AVCHD camcorder clips on Mac with Final Mate for Mac. Maybe someday iMovie or FCP would support the files in .mts or .m2ts directly as input, and then you can edit them in native format.

Tips:
If you are using PowerPC version, or would like to make the H.264 MOV videos editable in iMovie from DSLR cameras like Canon 600D, Nikon 7000D, Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac will be the first choice or you.

Watch 1080p Blu-ray DVD Movies to Xoom/Acer A500/Galaxy Tab in Full HD
Watch 1080p movies on tablets like Motorola Xoom/Acer A500/Galaxy Tab

Tablet PCs like Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom and Acer Iconia Tab A500 support 1080p display. Even though the devices are from different brand, there is one common feature for these tables, i.e. Android OS. So no matter you have Blu-ray disc movies, DVD movies in VOB format, or MKV videos, you can enjoy the HD quality.

However, before putting the videos to your Galaxy Tab, Xoom or A500, you should convert them to the Android supported formats. Aunsoft Blu-ray Video Converter Ultimate is the best choice for you to put and play 1080p BD DVD movies to Xoom/Acer A500/Galaxy Tab. It does not only enable you to load videos from Blu-ray disc or DVD disc, but also import .mkv, .tivo, .vob for conversion.

Follow the simple steps below and you transfer the output files to tablet PCs.

Step 1. Import videos to Aunsoft Blu-ray Video Converter Ultimate.
Run Aunsoft Blu-ray Video Converter Ultimate as the BD/DVD movies to tablet converter. For movies from disc, just insert the disc to BD/DVD ROM, and click the "Load BD/DVD" button to import movies directly. For movies from hard drive, click the "Add" button to browse videos.

Step 2. Choose MP4 format for tablets.
Click the Format option, and choose HD Video > H.264 HD Video(*.mp4) as output format. There are also profiles for Android, but in different resolution. We use 1080p here.

Step 3. Choose subtitle for Blu-ray or DVD movies. (optional)
For each main movie or main title from BD/DVD, you can choose the subtitle language according to your preference. You can also check the box for "Only show forced subtitles".

Step 4. Convert videos to 1080p for full HD.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the conversion from BD/DVD to A500/XOOM will start immediately.

After the files are done, just sync and transfer the videos to your tablet. And then you can watch 1080p videos on Acer A500/Motorola Xoom/Galaxy Tab in the car. Freely enjoy the movies on the go.
